These e-wires are going out a bit after the fact, but for those who were not present in Long Beach, they may be helpful.)

Today, August 7^th, 2000 my sister, Jennifer Giroux and I left from the Reform Party Convention in Long Beach, California. The first battle for the Reform Party was to defeat the bizarre challenge from the Perot backed Natural Law Party candidate John Hagelin. As delegate and national committee member Susan Madori’s insightful position paper had shown (it was mailed to all delegates), Hagelin was not even eligible to be a Reform Party candidate, as he was on the ballot in 50 states as the NATURAL LAW PARTY for the second straight presidential election cycle.

I went out to the Reform Party Convention for two reasons: a) in hopes that the Reform Party would publicly commit itself to a grassroots effort to build the party by precinct and county – in other words, to finally put an army of patriotic Americans on the political battle field against the Rump Dem-Repub parties which are fueled by paid county employees devoid of conviction – or who better keep their conviction under their hat. 2) in hopes that the Reform Party would commit itself publicly to demanding paper ballots counted with citizen checks and balances at the neighborhood precinct, as opposed to the unverifiable computerized elections we now have.

Quite frankly, the Constitution Party under Howard Phillips has already committed itself to these ideals, and the paper ballot provision is in that party’s Platform. At this moment, though, it is the Reform Party that seems to have the potential to make a breakthrough against the New World Order Dem-Repub Duopoly. As with many in the battle for our country, we are grateful to all who are struggling – but will take a breakthrough when and where we can get it, recognizing that a breakthrough will help everyone.
