MSNBC report on internet voting

Last week MSNBC did a report on internet voting, including the internet voting that took place in Arizona during the Democratic primaries this year.

The big Media is following a familiar pattern. Now they are mentioning internet voting, and giving the pros and cons – making it controversial.

MSNBC anchors told us how the first internet voting experiment in Arizona didn’t go quite as planned, and gave credit to the premier False Opposition group in the votefraud field, Voting Integrity Project (VIP), led by the Morton Blackwells and their allies, – a group which popped up in 1996 during the Jenkins and Dornan votefraud disputes.

VIP was cited by MSNBC as pointing up the problems in internet voting. VIP was focusing not on the absurdness of internet voting per se, -- as we are doing in our Network America e-wires and on votefraud.org -- but on the lack of access to computers in minority communities. This is a variation of the Establishment theme: everyone must vote, but no one should ever question how the votes are counted.. The anchor then said that experts thought the bugs in internet voting could eventually be worked out.

Doubtless, VIP will drop its opposition to internet voting somewhere down the line when enough “safeguards” have been put in place.

If VIP is built up in the public mind as “the authority” on votefraud, then it is hoped the vast majority will have their fears of rigged computer and internet elections quellted – pacified by VIP, the designated Great Pacifier in this field. (Much as False Opposition sell-outs Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell and Ralph Reed – just pacified the misgivings of the less perceptive Christian Coalition and Right to Life Republicans about the GOP’s subtle acceptance and support of continued “legalized” abortion.)

A real blockbuster – as has been recently pointed out to me, is that VIP is funded – yes, funded! – by a software company promoting internet voting! The company is True Ballot, Inc. and you can confirm this for yourself on VIP’s (Voting Integrity Project) website. Incidentally, Paul Weyrich, who recently told conservatives to quit and run for the mountains, because all was lost --- shows up on some of the boards promoting internet voting and the so-called “Direct Democracy” movement. Weyrich, long the architect of “false opposition” defeatist strategies which have wasted tens of millions of dollars of sincere patriotic money, has apparently decided to open.join the opposition – rather than take his own advice and run for the hills himself.

If we are in any way mis-characterizing the positions of VIP or Deborah Phillips, its director, -- or Paul Weyrich -- we would be glad to have a correcting statement from them with regard to their position on internet voting. We will have more on VIP as things develop.
