Big Media Tries to Warp NH Primary
This is being sent out late at night on Saturday, January 29, 2000.
Before commenting briefly on Big Media attempts to shape the election results in New Hampshire, let me state that Network America website will soon have a digest of all our messages, so that new subscribers won't have to go into Topica to read the back messages.
Also, the website will soon be activated to start keeping track of organizers across the country regarding tracking how each county is counting the ballots, as well as building an organization of citizens, county by county, and precinct by precinct, around the country.
Hopefully we will have enough information for a meaningful report on Iowa by early next week, and maybe our Citizens for a Fair Vote Count leader in New Hampshire will have some news from that primary.
The talking heads throughout the land of CNN, FOX, NBC, ABC, and CBS have all declared that both major Parties have a two way race: Gore vs. Bradley on the Democratic side, which is obvious; Bush vs. McCain on the GOP side, which is not obvious. Capital Gang on CNN, the Beltway Boys on Fox, were just disgusting in the way they tried to give the viewers the impression that it was a waste to vote for anyone of the other candidates. We can expect the Sunday talk shows do the same.
Please take note of the tremendous influence these Big TV networks try to exert on the electorate. It is outrageous that they focus on their mysterious polls, and pretend the election is decided, when they should be focusing on what each candidate stands for. Also, the attempt to make the race between Bush and McCain on the one hand, and Gore and Bradley on the other - into something exciting is a complete joke, and falling flat. Assertions that John McCain is electrifying the crowds are everywhere on the media - would someone show us an example of one of these electrifying rallies? The McCain appearances I have seen are tortuous. McCain never seems to be really having fun, or really happy.
The Media talking heads, including Bob Novak of CNN, seem to have contracted amnesia about the man who really electrified crowds in 1996: Pat Buchanan. The talking heads are saying that McCain's "electrifying" appearances remind them of Gary Hart in 1984. Maybe, because they're nothing like the truly electrifying appearances of Buchanan in New Hampshire in 1996. However, the Buchanan endorsement of Dole in 1996 is still dampening the enthusiasm of many regarding Buchanan's run this time. How many I don't know.
I still believe that the New Hampshire primary will give the lie to these Big Media polls, and I will be shocked if McCain wins it. But after that, Katie-bar-the-door, look for gigantic Bush and Gore landslides in the all computer-generated states.
